Chicago, Illinois, April 26, 2007 – Mori Seiki recently announced that it will host an Innovation Days event to be held at its Chicago Technical Center on May 15 - 16. The event will consist of informative presentations on a variety of industry topics, demonstrations of new machine models and the grand opening ceremony for the new Mori Seiki University facility.
A variety of topics relevant to todays American manufacturer will be presented at Innovation Days. Among these will be disruptive technologies, automation solutions, die/mold manufacturing, aerospace trends and machining difficult materials. Presentations focusing on developments within Mori Seiki will also be offered, including a look at the Machining Technology Lab (MTL). Mori Seiki MTL is a business entity dedicated to improving machine productivity through the development of innovative, performance-enhancing technologies in areas such as cutting tools and workholding.
The NZ2000 T3Y3 will be making its regional debut at Innovation Days. As the worlds first multi-axis machine with three turrets, each containing a built-in milling motor™, and a Y-axis function, the NZ2000 T3Y3 provides dramatic reductions in process time and cost. The machine employs a highly rigid structure and is an ideal solution for machining bar material, shafts, flanges and precision equipment.
Mori Seikis Dura machines will also be demonstrated at Innovation Days. DuraTurn CNC lathes allow for a maximum turning length ranging from 13.2" to 20.9" and are available with chuck sizes of 6", 8" and 10". DuraVertical vertical machining centers contain work envelopes of up to 53.1" x 23.6" and contain a No. 40 taper spindle with a maximum speed of 10,000 rpm. All Dura machines offer superior durability, stable machine performance, high levels of reliability and excellent cost performance.
During Innovation Days, Dr. Masahiko Mori will preside over a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new 8,100 sq. ft. facility constructed to house Mori Seiki University. This new division of the company will function as a comprehensive educational resource.
