Mori Seiki to Showcase a Variety of Products at EASTEC 2006

Irving, Texas, March 3, 2006 – Mori Seiki will showcase a variety of machines at the upcoming EASTEC Exposition & Conference to be held at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds in West Springfield, Massachusetts from May 23 - 25. Mori Seiki’s products will be located in the Tyler Machine Tool booth (#1503), a company distributor.

Mori Seiki will prominently display the NL2500SY from the high-precision CNC lathes series, the NL Series. Developed to provide milling capability as robust as a machining center, NL lathes feature a milling motor inside the turret directly coupled to the milling tool. Compared to conventional models, this reduces tool spindle acceleration time by 2/3 and diminishes vibration and noise by 1/2. Machining accuracy has been greatly improved through increased rigidity and measures have been taken to minimize the effects of heat displacement.

The NL2500SY’s turning capacity handles a 14.0" diameter and 27.7" length. The lathe is in the 10" chuck size class and commans a maximum bar work diameter of 3.1". Additionally, the inclusion of 4.0" Y-axis movement serves to further extend flexibility, providing off-center machining. The NL2500SY also includes a sub-spindle, allowing parts to be automatically transferred between the spindles and all sides of a part to be machined without manual intervention.

Also featured will be the DURACENTER 5, a vertical machining center that combines high performance machining with reliability at an extremely competitive price. By using DDS (Direct Drive Spindle) motor gearless technology, the DURACENTER 5 ensures that the full power of the spindle is applied at all speeds. The No. 40 taper spindle reaches its maximum speed of 12,000 rpm in just 1.1 seconds. The automatic tool changer also increases productivity with a tool-to-tool time of only 1.0 second.

The DURACENTER 5 features a rapid traverse rate of 945 ipm on all axes. The vertical machining center handles work pieces weighing up to 1,760 lbs. on its 43.3 in. by 23.6 in. worktable.

Mori Seiki’s MAPPS II control comes standard on the DURACENTER 5. The most powerful control of its kind, MAPPS II improves convenience through such features as conversational programming and customizable work offsets. The rugged control is built to withstand the constant vibration and moisture of a harsh machine shop environment.

Mori Seiki produces extremely reliable machine tools and distributes worldwide. The U.S. headquarters is in Dallas with offices in Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Des Moines, Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and New Jersey.
