Chicago, Illinois, October 29, 2007 – As a result of the company’s acquisition of DIXI Machines earlier this
year, Mori Seiki is pleased to offer the JIG 1200 High Precision Horizontal Machining Center. Manufactured in
Le Locle, Switzerland, this machine offers manufacturers unmatched precision in demanding applications.
A relatively large machine, the JIG 1200 provides axis strokes of
47.2“ x 43.3“ x 43.3“ with a 49.2“ x 39.3“
table that is capable of supporting over 5,500 lbs. While positioning accuracy of 5 μm is typical for this class of
machines, the JIG 1200 actually provides positioning accuracy of .99 μm. With volumetric accuracy for the
tool tip of less than 15 μm anywhere within the machining area, the horizontal machining center offers higher
precision than standard 3D measuring instruments.
The incredibly high levels of precision maintained by the JIG 1200 require nearly perfect flatness, straightness
and squareness on and between all guideways and axes. To attain this, hundreds of hours of hand scraping are
required during the final assembly process.
The JIG 1200 contains a high output motor and No. 50 taper high-speed spindle with a maximum spindle
speed of 12,000 rpm. This combination provides for the highest levels of productivity available in the machine
class. The JIG 1200 is an ideal solution for manufacturers producing small lots with high precision demands.
As part of Mori Seiki, DIXI Machines is continuing its market leading production of high precision machine
tools. Mori Seiki produces extremely reliable machine tools and distributes worldwide. The U.S. headquarters
is in Chicago with offices in Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles and New Jersey. For
