To more fully meet our customers’ needs, Mori Seiki has developed the Machining Technology Laboratory (MTL). MTL is a new business entity, dedicated to enhancing manufacturers’ overall machining processes through developments of technologies beyond the scope of machine design, such as cutting tools and workholding. Among the first four innovations under development are a balancer that allows rebalancing of the chuck of a lathe as the balance of the workpiece changes and a spinning tool that distributes heat around the circumference of the tool to achieve productivity increases of up to 150%.
